The connection between music and fashion is more and more visible – designer’s collaborations with musicians (capsule collections), special lines for they tour’s. But, I think, the most touchable and related to fashion are runway soundtracks. It’s doesn’t matter what we hear – an old band song or special for the event created track it’s creating a whole atmosphere, which without music would be inconceivable.
I can’t remember the season, but Burberry Prorsum show was my first experience, when I heard the song and immediately started to search it. Later Burberry started to do live performances. The latest – incredible British singer’s Paloma Faith performance – song “Only love can hurt like this”.
I really like new Saint Lauren direction and Hedi Slimane work, so every time I’m looking forward to hear selected soundtrack. What stuck in my mind? I think it was San Francisco band’s “Thee Oh Sees“ song „Tidal Wave“, which gave the perfect vibe for the first rebranden collection.
Canada has really promising music scene, so to hear Grimes song „Be a Body“ closing Lanvin FW 12/13 show was really inspiring.
It‘s interesting to hear what will be chosen for the runway, because it can be the best new music find ever, that you not know even existed. A little piece of this incredible song „Open“ by Rhye was playing at Zac Posen SS 2014 show.
